Bruce Hale (USA)
Bruce has been a Hot Air Balloon pilot since 1988. His ballooning involvement has extended to competitive flying with Top Gun as well as active participation in AAAA. While Hot Air ballooning has been his love, Bruce received his gas rating in 1999, and now enthuses convincingly about gas competition. He has served as an Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta (AIBF) director since 1980 and was AIBF president in 1995 and 1996. He was inducted into the AIBF Hall of Fame in 1997. When he's not ballooning, Bruce works as a Highway and Municipality Utility Contractor in New Mexico. The firm, J. R. Hale Construction, is one of the last large family owned construction companies of its kind in New Mexico. Bruce's involvement dates back to 1972. He's been active in the industry, serving as Past President of the Rio Grande Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors and Past President of the Rio Grande Underground Contractors Association. In addition, he's the founding and current Chairman of the first Worker's Compensation Self-insured group in the state. Bruce is a lifelong resident of New Mexico. He and his wife Glynette have four children and three grandchildren. The operative word to describe Bruce is "involved" and the phrase that most people who know him prefer is "All around good old boy!"
